Two flagship projects of the Uttarakhand Mining Department -Mining Digital Transformation and Surveillance System (MDTSS) and the e-Ravanna Security Paper initiative—have received the SKOCH Award. The award was received by Rajpal Legha, director of the Directorate of Geology and Mining, Uttarakhand.
Officials said that under the MDTSS initiative, 45 advanced unmanned e-check gates have been installed across four plain districts of the State. These are equipped with modern technologies such as ANPR cameras, RFID tagging, LED flood lighting and integrated surveillance systems. Additionally, a comprehensive digital ecosystem—including Mineral Management System, e-Ravanna, mining e-services, mobile inspection apps, Decision Support System (DSS), Vehicle Tracking System (VTS) and weighbridge integration—has been implemented.
Meanwhile, the e-Ravanna Security Paper system has replaced ordinary paper with high-security feature-enabled documents for mineral transportation. This has effectively eliminated duplication and misuse of e-Ravanna forms, safeguarding revenue interests. The successful implementation of these two projects has not only strengthened enforcement against illegal mining but has also led to nearly a fourfold increase in revenue compared to previous years, officials added.
