With the Char Dham Yatra slated to start soon in the next month, the Chamoli district administration has initiated efforts to address the issues being faced by operators of hotels, restaurants and dhabas in the district due to the supply of commercial cooking gas cylinders being affected by the West Asia conflict. The district administration is preparing a plan to tackle the problems of the operators in Chamoli where the Badrinath Dham is situated. Along with the distribution of the allocated commercial gas cylinder quota, the administration is also preparing a plan for other options. These efforts are aimed at preventing any problems to the operators of hotels, restaurants and roadside eateries during the Char Dham Yatra.
Chamoli district magistrate Gaurav Kumar chaired a meeting with officials of the district supply office, Tourism and Tehsil to review preparations for the pilgrimage. He sought information about the problems which the operators of hotels, restaurants and dhabas might face during the Yatra period. He also discussed options to ensure supply of fuel to meet the demand of the market along with the commercial gas quota being received. He said that a distribution system is being made as per the supply of commercial gas cylinders in the district. At the same time, another plan to supply other fuel alternatives like pirul (dry pine needles), firewood and coal to the operators is also being prepared by the district administration. The authorities are making plans to ensure that adequate cooking fuel is supplied in the district, the DM added.
