BJP spreading canard on women reservation bill: Dasauni

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE/ Dehradun

The chief spokesperson of Uttarakhand Congress, Garima Dasauni has said that the decision of Bharatiya Janata Party to organise state-wide protest rallies on women reservation is an attempt to spread canard and divert the attention of the general public.

Reacting to the president of State president of BJP Mahila Morcha that the women reservation bill could not get passed due to the role played by the opposition, Dasauni said that the fact is that the women reservation bill was unanimously passed in 2023 in both houses of the parliament.

She said that the BJP leaders in the State are being greeted with the slogans of ‘Go back’ which shows that the BJP has lost the faith of the people of the State. Dasauni said that it is unfortunate that the BJP is trying to save its fast eroding political ground by raising the issue of women reservation.

Citing the recent statement of former state president of BJP, Banshidhar Bhagat in which he had said that the BJP should not rely on Modi magic only and work should be done on ground, exposes the internal situation of the BJP.

Dasauni added that the Congress party is committed to safeguarding the rights of women and their empowerment. She said that the Congress party will respond effectively against the misinformation campaign of BJP.
