After a gap of 13 years, new academic appointments have been made at Kumaun University. Following a meeting of the executive council, appointments to the positions of associate professor and professor in various departments have been announced.

Bama Prasad Dutt has been appointed as associate professor in the department of Pharmacy, Meenu Rani in the department of Geography, Ramesh Chandra Belwal in the department of Computer Science and Jibu Sabu M in the department of English.  This aside, Deepak Paliwal has been made a professor in the department of Sociology and Charu Chandra Tiwari has been appointed as the deputy librarian.

The vice-chancellor, Rawat said that the university expected a lot from these new appointees.  “The newly appointed faculty must publish at least one research paper in Scopus or an equivalent international journal before their probationary period is confirmed. They must also complete a research project during this time. Failure to meet these requirements will result in their probationary period not being confirmed. Furthermore, the university will not issue a no objection certificate (NOC) to any newly appointed faculty for five years. This is to ensure that they serve the university with complete loyalty and dedication,” he said, adding that these appointments are likely to improve the university’s academic and research quality.
