The State government has launched the Unified Ration Card Management System (URCMS) portal to make ration card services easier and more transparent for people in Uttarakhand. Dehradun district supply officer KK Aggarwal informed on Sturday that citizens can now apply for new ration cards, add or remove family members and make corrections in ration cards from home through the online portal.
Officials said the old portal has been upgraded with better technology and simpler processes. People will no longer need to visit government offices or ration shops repeatedly for ration card-related work. Applications can now be submitted online through the official portal using the Citizen Login option. For new ration cards, Aadhaar based OTP verification will be necessary. Existing ration card holders who want to make any changes in their cards will have to log in using the registered mobile number of the family head. Officials said the OTP system will help make the process safer and more transparent.Agrawal said citizens can also visit tehsil offices and district supply offices for help with new ration card applications. He appealed to all old ration card holders to complete their e-KYC before May 30 through the Mera e-KYC app. The new system will save time, reduce unnecessary visits to offices and provide better services to the public, he added.
