Gen Z Pradhan attracts public criticism after video of elderly man touching her feet goes viral

A dispute between a young woman Gram Pradhan, Beera Rawat and an elderly man in Maroda village of Pauri district has become a major topic of discussion after pictures and videos of the old man estimated to 70-yeats-old, touching her feet to apologise for a heated argument went viral on social media. The viral images showed the elderly man touching the feet of the woman Gram Pradhan during a settlement meeting at Thalisain police station.
Soon after, photos and videos of the incident started circulating widely on social media. Though public opinion is not uniform, many are questioning the Pradhan and the allegedly edited clips of the argument in question anda Panchayat meeting. While some people supported Rawat and praised her for taking action, others expressed sympathy for the elderly man and questioned the way the matter was handled.
Inspector general of police (Garhwal) Rajeev Swaroop said that the matter is being looked into. Police officials said that both parties later reached a mutual agreement and the issue was resolved peacefully.
The incident reportedly took place on Wednesday evening. According to police, Rawat filed a complaint alleging that the elderly man misbehaved with her, hit her with a stick, held her hand and made objectionable remarks about her character. She also claimed that the dispute was linked to old election rivalry.
After receiving the complaint, police reached the senior citizen’s home and called both parties to the police station for discussion. During the meeting, the elderly man allegedly accepted his mistake, apologised to the woman Pradhan and touched her feet as a mark of apology. Rawat has since uploaded a video on social media explaining her situation though most citizens dont appear convinced, with some also citing her purported statement about the paltry salary of a Gram Pradhan, citing which she allegedly said that she would focus on vlogging too.
