Mayor pulls up departments over delayed works at Mohkampur flyover

PIONEER EDGE NEWS SERVICE / Dehradun

Dehradun mayor Saurabh Thapliyal on Monday inspected the Mohkampur flyover and nearby areas and expressed displeasure over delays in various civic and development works. The officials from NHAI, UUSDA, UPCL, Jal Sansthan, PWD and the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) were present during the inspection.

During the visit, the mayor found that the service lane near the flyover had not been repaired after completion of flyover construction, leaving the road in poor condition. He also pointed out that road restoration work remained incomplete at several places where sewer and drinking water pipelines had been laid, causing problems for commuters and local residents.

Pending drain construction, sanitation work and encroachment removal under and around the flyover also came under scrutiny during the inspection. With the monsoon approaching, the mayor directed the officials to complete the work on priority to avoid waterlogging and possible accidents in the area.

Thapliyal also pulled up departments over poor coordination and said that residents should not suffer because of delays by agencies handling different works. He warned that negligence in public works would not be tolerated. The mayor further instructed the police to take action against anti-social elements allegedly consuming drugs under the flyover and ensure proper monitoring to maintain law and order.

Speaking after the inspection, he said that resolving public grievances and improving basic infrastructure remains a priority for the administration and departments have been asked to speed up pending works without further delay.
