Dehradun Shahar Qazi Mufti Hashim Ahmad Qasmi has urged people to celebrate Eid-ul-Adha peacefully and avoid sharing animal sacrifice videos on social media. On Sunday, he said Eid-ul-Adha will be celebrated on May 28 across the city with devotion and respect.

Qasmi informed that Eid prayers at Dehradun Eidgah will be offered at 7:30 AM, while prayers at Jama Masjid in Paltan Bazaar will begin at 8 AM. He requested people to reach the prayer venues before time and cooperate with mosque committees and the administration for smooth arrangements.

He also urged people to maintain cleanliness during and after the animal sacrifice rituals. He said animal remains should not be thrown in open places and all instructions issued by the administration must be followed to maintain peace and hygiene in the city. Qasmi also appealed to the youth to avoid sharing photos or videos of animal sacrifice on social media. Instead, he asked people to spread the message of brotherhood, love and communal harmony on the occasion.

He said Eid-ul-Adha teaches the values of sacrifice, humanity and helping the needy. People should support poor families, orphans and neighbours so that everyone can take part in the celebrations, he added.
