CEC prays for nation’s welfare at Yamunotri

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Gyanesh Kumar offered prayers at Yamunotri in the border district of Uttarkashi on the second day of his Uttarakhand tour on Sunday. The CEC prayed for the prosperity of all Indians, peace, progress and prosperity in the nation. Kumar reached the Kharsali helipad early in the morning from where he travelled to Yamunotri.

Following the prayers, the CEC viewed the Dham and sought information about the facilities being provided to the devotees arriving here. He appreciated the efforts being made by the authorities for facilitating a convenient, safe and systematic pilgrimage.

Kumar said that the Char Dham Yatra is an important part of the nation’s cultural and spiritual heritage, adding that providing better facilities to the pilgrims should be a priority for the administration. The State’s chief electoral officer BVRC Purushottam, Uttarkashi district magistrate Prashant Arya and other officials were also present on the occasion.
