SIR: 76,754 absent, shifted & dead voters identified in Uttarakhand

In the ongoing process of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the electoral rolls in Uttarakhand, the Booth Level Officers (BLO) have so far identified 76,754 voters under the Absent Shifted and Dead (ASD) category.

Information in this regard was given by the chief electoral officer (CEO) Uttarakhand, BVRC Purushottam in a meeting with representatives of recognized national political parties at the State Secretariat on Thursday. In the meeting detailed discussions on the SIR.

The CEO urged political parties to use the list of ASD voters and search these voters through their Booth Level Agents (BLAs) and BLOs before July 7. This will help in ensuring that no eligible voter’s name is deleted from the voter list, he said. 

In the meeting, the CEO took feedback from the political parties regarding the distribution of enumeration forms so far and the SIR work going on at the field level. He appealed to the political parties to cooperate with the booth level officers in this campaign.

Purushottam informed that the distribution of enumeration forms in the state is 99 per cent complete. He added that 20 per cent of the enumeration forms have been digitized so far. He stated that all District Election Officers (DEOs) in the State have been instructed to complete the digitization work in a timely manner based on daily targets. He informed that the SIR process in the State will be completed on the basis of the eligibility date of July 1, 2026. The draft electoral roll will be published on July 14, 2026. 

The CEO said that between July 14 to August 13, objections and claims can be filed by the voters. He added that all notices will be issued from July 14 to September 11, 2026 and claims and objections will be resolved. The final publication of the voter list will be done on September 15,  2026. The CEO appealed for cooperation from political parties for better functioning of SIR. He said that against 11,733 polling booths in Uttarakhand, more than 22,900 BLAs have been deployed by political parties in the State.

Additional CEO Vijay Kumar Jogdande, deputy CEO Kishan Singh Negi, assistant CEO Mastu Das attended the meeting. The representatives of BJP, Congress, BSP, Aam Aadmi Party and CPI (M) were present on the occasion.
