Non-compliance with norms: De-addiction centre sealed

An inspection of a de-addiction and rehabilitation centre, Ranjhawala, Raipur was conducted on Saturday by a joint team comprising medical and police officers during which it was found that the centre was not complying with the prescribed standards and mandatory requirements. Furthermore, despite previous warnings and directions issued to the institution, the required corrective measures had not been undertaken.

In view of these irregularities and violations of prescribed norms, action was taken in accordance with the appropriate rules, and the centre was sealed on the spot.
At the time of inspection, a total of eight beneficiaries were residing in the centre. After verification of their status and completion of the necessary documentation and procedural formalities, all beneficiaries were handed over to their respective family members/guardians.

The inspection team comprised the assistant chief medical officer (ACMO), Dr Avinash Khanna; psychiatrist Dr Rohit and station officer (SO), Raipur police station, Surendra.
