The State Health Authority (SHA) has clearly stated that from September 1, 2026, only hospitals that have the digital health system in place will receive reimbursements under the Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PM-JAY) and Atal Ayushman Uttarakhand Yojana. The authority has directed all the chief medical officers (CMO) of the state to implement the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) based Hospital Management Information System (HMIS) in the empanelled hospitals by August 31, 2026 and link patients’ medical records to the digital platform.
The State Mission Director of ABDM Reena Joshi said that the hospitals that do not comply with the norms within the deadline will not be eligible for the payments.
The order mandates all government and private hospitals to implement an ABDM-enabled HMIS and “Scan and Share” feature with immediate effect. Along with this, the Health Professional Registry (HPR) ID registration of doctors, staff nurses and pharmacists working in hospitals and the Health Facility Registry (HFR) ID registration of all medical institutions must also be ensured.
Joshi said that the process of linking patients’ medical records to the ABDM ecosystem must also begin by August 31. “This system aims to make healthcare services more efficient, transparent and technology-based. It will establish better coordination between various hospitals and health systems, and patients’ health records will be available securely digitally. If needed, patient treatment information can be easily obtained at any authorized health institution, ensuring continuity of treatment. All districts have been instructed to complete this task on a top priority basis,’’ she said.
Joshi added that the hospital administrators can contact the ABDM Uttarakhand office for technical assistance and coordination if required.
