SIR: 8,39,486 dead, shifted, duplicate & absent voters in U’khand

The Election Commission of India has put 8, 39,486 voters in Uttarakhand under ‘uncollected’ category in the ongoing process of Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. These include 1,23,836 deceased, 4,77,148 permanently shifted, 61,764 previously registered and 1,68,259 absent voters.

This information was provided by the additional chief electoral officer (ACEO) VK Jogdande to the representatives of the recognised national political parties during a meeting at the State secretariat on Friday. He appealed to the political parties to cooperate in the door-to-door verification campaign of voters in the uncollected category. 

He said that out of 79,60,762 voters in the State, the enumeration forms of 70,98,501 voters have been digitized.

Jogdande informed that the draft electoral roll will be published on July 14, 2026. After this date the voters can file objections till August 13.  He informed that the notice period and disposal of claims and objections will be from July 14 to September 11. The final electoral roll will be published on September 15.

Jogdande appealed to all the political parties to appoint 100 per cent booth level agents in the State. He said that there are 11,733 polling booths in Uttarakhand and all the recognised national political parties have so far appointed 23,102 BLAs. 

Deputy CEO Kishan Singh Negi, ACEO Mastu Das along with BJP’s Rajkumar Purohit, Congress party’s Amarendra Bisht and others attended the meeting.
