Two people were injured after shots were fired outside a liquor shop on Ring Road in the Raipur area of Dehradun on Friday night. The incident took place at around 8:30 PM. The superintendent of police (Rural) Jaya Baluni said that the police have examined CCTV footage from nearby areas, but they have not been able to clearly identify the shooters because nearly 20 people were present at the spot. She also said that no bullet was recovered from the crime scene.

Eyewitnesses said that two rounds were fired, creating panic among people at the spot. Many people initially thought the loud sound came from a motorcycle, but later realised it was gunfire. In the incident, 38-year-old Naveen Rana suffered a pellet injury to his chest and was admitted to Kailash Hospital. Similarly, 25-year-old Kavindra Sharma was shot in the leg and is undergoing treatment at Government Doon Medical College Hospital. Both injured men are reported to be in a stable condition.

After receiving information about the incident, Raipur police reached the spot and closed the liquor shop before its scheduled closing time as a precaution. Police have launched an investigation and are examining CCTV footage from nearby areas to identify the attackers. Baluni said that Rana was standing near the shop when he was injured. She added that Sharma had a dispute with a group of people, but it has not yet been confirmed whether that dispute was the reason behind the firing. She further said that the police are questioning witnesses and have formed a special team to solve the case. All possible angles are being investigated and raids are being conducted to arrest the accused. Police expressed confidence that the suspects will be arrested soon.
