Eight new cooperative federations to come up in State: Rawat

 Cooperation minister Dhan Singh Rawat has said that eight new cooperative federations will soon be constituted to expand cooperatives in the State. He said that cooperative fairs will now be organized in assembly constituencies as well, so that farmers, cultivators, artisans and women’s self-help groups can find a market for their products and strengthen the rural economy.

The minister was addressing a programme held to mark completion of five years of the Union Ministry of Cooperation. 

Rawat said that eight new cooperative federations, the Lakhpati Didi Federation, Women’s Self-Help Group Federation, Forest Panchayat Federation, Health Federation, Plumber and Water Workers Federation, Bharat Taxi Federation, Aviation Federation and Youth Federation will be constituted. 

He said that the Women SHG Federation will make 21,000 women self-help groups more organized and self-reliant. Furthermore, through the Lakhpati Didi Federation, women will be economically empowered by connecting them with various government schemes. “The Forest Panchayat Federation will connect forest-based livelihoods, nursery development and farmers. The Plumber Federation will organize skilled artisans in the State and provide new employment opportunities. Through the Bharat Taxi Federation, approximately 47,000 drivers will get connected to a modern online platform, while the Youth Federation aims to connect one lakh youth with self-employment and self-reliance in a year,’’ he said.

 Ghansali MLA Shakti Lal said that the rural economy is being strengthened by the cooperative fairs.

 Registrar, Cooperatives, Meherban Singh Bisht, while giving information about departmental schemes and innovations being made in the cooperative sector, said that cooperation will be further strengthened through transparency, technological innovation and public participation.
