Venugopal focuses on unity, strengthening Cong organisation

The national general secretary (Organisation) of All India Congress Committee (AICC) KC Venugopal arrived on a two day visit to the State on Thursday.  His arrival on the day was delayed as he decided to come to Dehradun by road as his flight was delayed. Venugopal was given a rousing welcome on his arrival at the headquarters of the State Congress. He was welcomed by the in- charge of Uttarakhand Congress Kumari Selja, Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Ganesh Godiyal, the leader of opposition (LoO) in Vidhan Sabha Yashpal Arya and other senior leaders of the party. Later in the day, Venugopal held a brainstorming session with the district presidents of the party. In this meeting, Venugopal is learnt to have emphasised on the importance of strengthening the district units. He asked the leaders to highlight the failures of the State government and the policies of the Congress party. Venugopal also directed the leaders to remain disciplined and use the party forum to put up their grievances.  In the meeting, he reviewed the preparations of the party and understood the local political equations. 

Venugopal then chaired a meeting of the newly constituted political affairs committee (PAC) of the party. In this meeting, a discussion on preparing the strategy of the party for the Vidhan Sabha elections of 2027 were held. Elaborate discussions with party in-charge Selja, PCC president Godiyal, LoP Arya, chairman of the campaign committee Pritam Singh and chairman of the election management committee Harak Singh Rawat on the roadmap of the party was held. In this meeting Venugopal stressed on having unity among the senior leaders. He also held important meetings with the MLAs and former MLAs and the heads of the frontal organisations of the party.
