Doon University & IIT Madras collaborate for ‘AI-for-All’ courses

The ‘AI-for-All’ initiative for higher education institutions of Uttarakhand was launched by governor lieutenant general (retd) Gurmit Singh at Lok Bhawan on Friday. The initiative will be implemented by Doon University in collaboration with IIT Madras, SWAYAM Plus and IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation to promote artificial intelligence education and enhance employability among students.

Addressing the gathering, Singh said that in the initial phase, the initiative will offer a range of AI-focused courses, including AI/ML using Python, AI in physics, AI in Accounting, AI in chemistry, AI for educators and AI for aspiring engineers through SWAYAM Plus and IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation. He highlighted Uttarakhand’s growing higher education ecosystem, comprising State universities, government colleges, private universities and premier national institutions, and expressed confidence that students across these institutions would benefit from the collaboration.

Speaking on the occasion, IIT Madras director and Padma Shri recipient V Kamakoti said that SWAYAM Plus, an initiative of the Ministry of Education is being implemented by IIT Madras to provide high-quality, employment-oriented learning opportunities to learners across the country.

Doon University vice chancellor Surekha Dangwal welcomed the collaboration and described it as a significant milestone in strengthening technology-enabled higher education in Uttarakhand.

National Convenor of SWAYAM Plus, R Sarathi said that Doon University will serve as the nodal partner of IIT Madras for Uttarakhand. He added that students of the State will receive academic support through SWAYAM Plus and IITM Pravartak Technologies Foundation, the Technology Innovation Hub on Sensors, Networking, Actuators and Control Systems (SNACS), hosted by IIT Madras and supported by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India, under the National Mission on Interdisciplinary Cyber-Physical Systems.
