With an aim to expand healthcare access in Uttarakhand, Fortis Healthcare on Tuesday announced the launch of Fortis Medical Centre in Dehradun. Addressing the media, officials said the centre has been set up in collaboration with Sikund Diagnostic Centre. It will bring medical, surgical and transplant specialists from Fortis hospitals in Delhi-NCR to Dehradun and nearby areas.
Earlier, Fortis conducted targeted OPD clinics at three locations in the region. The new centre is the company’s first dedicated, multi-specialty facility in Dehradun, officials informed. Officials said that the centre will offer specialist OPD consultations in cardiology, cardiothoracic & vascular surgery (CTVS), paediatric cardiology, medical oncology, surgical oncology, neurosurgery, urology, nephrology, orthopaedics, bone marrow transplant and liver transplant.
In partnership with Sikund Diagnostic Centre, the facility will also provide diagnostic services including radiology and pathology along with specialist consultations. Patients who require advanced investigations, procedures or treatment will be guided through a referral pathway to Fortis hospitals based on clinical need, officials said. The OPDs will be supported by senior clinicians from the Fortis network. Officials said regular OPDs will enable patients in Dehradun and surrounding regions to access specialist consultations locally, while also facilitating referral for advanced care when required. The OPD will function on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Facility director, Fortis Shalimar Bagh, Naveen Sharma, said Dehradun serves a large patient population from across Uttarakhand and neighbouring regions, making it an important centre for healthcare access. “The Fortis Medical Centre will help bridge the gap between patients and super-specialist expertise by bringing consultations closer to the communities that need them,” he said.
Sikund Diagnostic Centre director Dr Rajeev Sikund said the collaboration is a step toward strengthening the healthcare ecosystem in Dehradun. “It will expand the range of advanced treatments available closer to home and also create opportunities for knowledge sharing, multidisciplinary collaboration and improved patient outcomes,” he said.
