Chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami made various announcements in favour of women on the occasion of Rakshabandhan on Friday. Addressing women at an event in Chakarpur stadium in Khatima, Dhami announced that high tech toilets with modern facilities will be provided for women with special focus on privacy, safety and convenience of women. Such facilities will be provided in major public places, markets, tourist spots and other locations.
While senior citizens aged above 65 are provided free travel in Uttarakhand Transport Corporation buses at present, Dhami announced that this will be provided for women from the age of 60 years. Out of the 100 buses to be operated in Dehradun as part of the 137 buses under the PM e-Bus Sewa scheme, 10 buses will be dedicated as pink e-buses for women. This facility will be extended to other parts of the State in a phased manner to maximise the access of safe and convenient public transport for women.
Under the Mahila Swarozgar Yojana, the bank loan will be raised from Rs two lakh to Rs 2.50 lakh, the CM announced. By providing necessary capital for self-employment to women, the government is consistently working to develop into job providers. The CM spoke about the relevance of Rakshabandhan and said that the State government is working for the honour, empowerment and self-reliance of women.
