Dehradun mayor Saurabh Thapliyal announced on the occasion of Rakshabandhan that CCTV cameras would be installed at major crossings and sensitive locations in every ward across Dehradun to enhance safety especially for women and girls. “The cameras will help monitor anti-social activities and make people feel safer,” he declared.
He further said that important locations in each ward would first be identified to be followed by CCTV camera installation. “The move is aimed at strengthening security across the city and improving surveillance in areas where people may face safety concerns,” Thapliyal said.
He said that safety and dignity of women are among the priorities of the municipal corporation. “The CCTV network will help create a safer environment for women and increase their confidence while moving about the city,” he added.
The mayor linked the announcement to the message of Rakshabandhan, which celebrates the bond of love and protection between brothers and sisters.
“We are trying by all means to make Dehradun cleaner, safer and better,” he said, adding that security arrangements in the city would be strengthened further in the coming days.
