In line with the instructions of the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami to make all roads across the State pothole-free by October 15, the district magistrate, Nainital, Lalit Mohan Rayal has issued necessary guidelines to the road construction agencies operating in the district. Notably, the same directions had been given by the chief secretary and secretary, Public Works Department at a meeting recently held.
The DM stated that many roads in the district have developed potholes and are found damaged for vehicular movement due to the incessant and heavy downpour. “The government has directed that these roads be restored to their original condition as soon as the rains end. The superintending engineers and executive engineers of the road construction agencies—PWD, NHAI and PMGSY—have been instructed to immediately prepare estimates for making the roads pothole-free in the district. They must ensure that tendering and material procurement for this work are completed by September 15. And if there is no more rain, the repairing and reconstruction works should be completed by the timeline from September 15 to October 15. The district administration wants to see all rain-damaged roads be rendered pothole free and repaired by October 15,” he affirmed.
