As part of the preparations for the Kumbh Mela 2027, the Mela administration has addressed some local concerns and apprehensions regarding the development work being carried out in the Shankar Ashram Chowk and Purana Ranipur Mod-Parshuram Chowk areas of Haridwar through dialogue. Notably, local public representatives and traders had expressed concerns about possible inconveniences in traffic and parking of vehicles regarding the plans related to the improvement and beautification of roads, footpaths, and intersections as firmed up by the Mela administration. To allay these concerns, the officials visited local residents, shared detailed information about the plans and assured them that their conveniences and practical suggestions would be fully considered in the implementation of these works.
The officers stated that they have embarked on this dialogue on the instructions of the Mela officer Sonika.
On Monday, the additional Mela officer Dayanand Saraswati, along with a team of officials, visited Shankar Ashram Chowk and the Old Ranipur Mod-Parshuram Chowk area.
During this meeting, Dayanand Saraswati interacted with local public representatives, traders, and the general people and provided detailed information about the road improvements, footpath construction and beautification projects proposed and underway in the area under the Kumbh Mela fund.
Officials also shared the blueprints and designs of the projects with them to eliminate any confusion regarding the proposed arrangements and to clearly present the actual status of the projects.
He stated that the plans were designed to ensure that local residents of Haridwar continue to benefit from the infrastructure being developed for the Kumbh Mela even after the fair. He added that pedestrian-friendly footpaths are being developed to ensure smooth and safe walking for pilgrims and locals from Har Ki Pauri to the city’s major temples and markets. Additionally, improvements, beautification, tree planting and attractive lighting are also being undertaken on interior roads and intersections.
“The fair administration intends to advance these plans with the participation of local residents,” he added.
