In an initiative to protect the stray cattle from accidents, Dharasu police under the direction of the superintendent of police, Uttarkashi, Kamlesh Upadhyay, launched a special campaign. A police team led by the inspector-in-charge, Dharasu, Darshan Prasad Kala placed radium tape around the necks of cattle roaming the Chinyalisaur, Pipal Mandi and areas adjacent to all -weather road. “The aim of this initiative is to increase the visibility of the animals during evening and night hours so that drivers can easily see them from a distance and avoid potential accidents,” Kala said.
He further said that stray cattle often cause road accidents, which can seriously injure both the animals and drivers. “Applying radium tape will make it easier to identify animals in the dark and reduce the risk of accidents,” he added.
During the campaign, the police team also raised awareness among cattle herders and cattle owners. They were advised not to leave their animals in the open, to provide regular care and to ensure their safety. “Ensuring animal safety is not just the responsibility of the administration but also of the society as a whole,” Kala asserted.
