Robbers suspected of fleeing to Nepal after drugging and robbing councillor & family

Three days after a robbery at the house of Bharatiya Janata Party councillor Amita Singh in the Vasant Vihar area, the police are yet to make a breakthrough in the case. The robbery took place late on September 30. It is believed that all the suspects may have fled to Nepal after committing the robbery.
The superintendent of police (City) Shekhar Suyal said that the police teams are working to trace those involved in the robbery. “Our teams are trying to identify and trace the accused involved in the case. We have also identified some associates of domestic help Bharat Thapa. It appears that all the suspects are from Nepal,” he said.
Suyal said the police had also questioned taxi drivers as part of the investigation. Some associates of Thapa allegedly travelled from Delhi to Dehradun by taxi. The same taxi was reportedly booked for their return journey from Dehradun to Delhi.
“The team is checking whether the suspects travelled from Delhi to other places after the robbery. The police teams have also been deployed near the Nepal border areas to search for the suspects,” Suyal said.
Nepali Thapa had been hired as a domestic help about 25 days before the incident. He was reportedly hired through an online platform by the Delhi resident daughter of the councillor, Megha. The police suspect that Thapa allegedly drugged three members of the family before fleeing with cash and jewellery on September 30.
