The Congress party started its Nyay Yatras from Badrinath (Chamoli), Dehradun, Almora and Haridwar on Thursday. The Pradesh Congress Committee president Ganesh Godiyal started the Yatra after paying obeisance at Badrinath Dham.
He said that the BJP claims to be the greatest supporter of Sanatan Dharma but under its rule, even the offerings made by devotees at the Badrinath Dham and the Ram Temple are not safe. Godiyal said that the money donated to temples is not the private property of any government, organization or individual, but rather a trust of the faith of the devotees. He stated that the Nyay Yatra is not merely a political programme of the Congress Party but a mass movement to provide justice to the oppressed, neglected and deprived people of the State. Through this Yatra, the Congress Party will expose the failures of the BJP government and will highlight the problems of the people prominently. The PCC president was accompanied by MLAs Vikram Singh Negi and Lakhpat Singh Butola.
In Dehradun, the Nyay Yatra commenced under the leadership of the chairman of the Election Management Committee Pritam Singh from the Tapkeshwar temple. Singh said that under BJP’s rule, the people of Uttarakhand are suffering from inflation, unemployment, corruption, harassment of women, deteriorating law and order situation and high headedness of the government machinery. The BJP’s triple double-engine governments have completely failed the expectations of the people of Uttarakhand and the people of the State are now determined to throw BJP out of power. He said that corruption in the State has reached its peak during the BJP government’s tenure. Paper leaks and recruitment scams in government job recruitment exams have jeopardized the future of millions of unemployed youth in the State. Former chief minister Harish Rawat also attended the Yatra in the Rajpur assembly constituency. He said that the people want justice for Ankita Bhandari.
Leader of opposition (LoP) in Vidhan Sabha Yashpal Arya, Congress Working Committee member Karan Mahara, deputy leader of the Congress legislature party, Bhuvan Kapdi and MLA Tilakraj Behed started the Nyay Yatra from the Golju Temple in Almora.
