Crime against women in UP- Cong stages Satyagrah

In protest against incidents of rapes in Hathras, Balrampur, Bulandsahar and Ajamgarh in Uttar Pradesh (UP), the Uttarakhand Congress organised mute protest ‘Satyagrah’ in all parts of the state on Monday. In the provisional state capital Dehradun, the Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) President Pritam Singh led the Congress leaders and workers in staging a ‘Satyragrah’ in front of the statue of Mahatma Gandhi at Gandhi Park.

Before ‘Satyagrah’, the PCC president said that the image of the country has got maligned by incidents of rapes in Uttar Pradesh and other BJP ruled states.  He said that these rapes have put a question mark over the party which has given the slogan of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’. Singh said that the daughters are not safe in any of the BJP ruled states and rape and murder of daughters in UP are the recent examples of heinous crime against women. He claimed that the culprits of these crimes are being shielded under pressure from the government in these states.  The PCC president added that the leaders of opposition parties are being manhandled and cane charged on raising voice against crime against women.

General Secretary Organisation, Vijay Saraswat, vice president Aryendra Sharma, former minister Matbar Singh Kandari, former MLA Jot Singh Gunsola, Rajkumar, Garima Dassauni and other Congress leaders and workers accompanied the PCC president in Satyagrah.
