U’khand ready for tourists on X’mas

Ahead of Christmas, the State’s Tourism and Culture minister Satpal Maharaj has exhorted tourists to definitely visit Uttarakhand in December. He said, “As Christmas approaches, we welcome those arriving here to celebrate the festival. We also request them to enjoy their holidays while observing the government’s guidelines for protection from Covid-19. As in the past years, the hotels and tourist destinations in Uttarakhand are ready to welcome visitors. All the stakeholders are getting a good response when it comes to bookings and events in the coming week, which is good news in these times affected by Covid.”

Tourism secretary Dilip Jawalkar said, “Various parts of Uttarakhand experience snowfall during this time, which enhances the feeling of Christmas. We are happy considering the queries by people who are planning to visit Uttarakhand in the coming days to celebrate the festival.”

Uttarakhand Hotel Association head Sandeep Sahani said, “A good number of bookings are being done by people from Delhi, Chandigarh and other nearby areas. Considering the changes caused by Covid, we are ensuring that along with the tourists, all the stakeholders also follow the guidelines properly.”

Nainital Hotel and Restaurant Association head Dinesh Sah also said that a considerable number of bookings had been done. “The officials are regularly checking hotels and restaurants to ensure that the necessary guidelines are being followed,” he added.
