Block HQs to be linked with double-lane roads: CM
In yet another major announcement, chief minister Trivendra Singh Rawat has said that in order to develop better roads and control road accidents at the development block level, all the block headquarters in every district will be linked with double lane roads. He said that as the majority of the roads leading to block headquarters are narrow, the roads leading to block headquarters with less population will be widened to one and a half lane while roads leading to block headquarters with more population will have double lane roads.
Double lane roads will enable more convenient and safer transport in these areas. This will also help in traffic control and prevention of road accidents, he said. Rawat said that widening roads to blocks will also make transport to remote areas of the state convenient and help in achieving the target of linking all villages of the state with roads. Strengthening the road network will also pave the way for local development, said Rawat.
