The Covid-19 cases in Uttarakhand have continued to rise consistently with 550 new positive cases being reported in the state on Sunday. While 148 patients of the disease recovered, two patients died from it in the state on Sunday. The state now has 3,017 active cases of Covid with a recovery percentage of 93.85.
According to information provided by the health department, the total cumulative positive Covid-19 cases detected in the state so far is 1,02,264 of which 95,973 have been cured. A total of 1,727 Covid patients have died in the state so far resulting in a fatality rate of 1.69 per cent. While 30,179 samples were sent for Covid testing on Sunday, the results of 30,422 samples are awaited. Of the positive cases reported on Sunday, the highest are from Dehradun district which reported 221 new cases. Haridwar district reported the second highest number with 173 cases followed by Nainital with 55. Among the other districts, Almora had 14 cases, while there were eight each in Bageshwar and Champawat, two in Chamoli, 14 in Pauri, five in Pithoragarh, one in Rudraprayag, 17 in Tehri, 23 in Udham Singh Nagar and nine in Uttarkashi. When it comes to active cases, Dehradun district has the highest with 1,207 followed by 837 in Haridwar and 239 in Nainital. Among the other districts, there are 180 active cases in Udham Singh Nagar, 155 in Tehri, 133 in Pauri, 69 in Almora, 44 in Bageshwar, 17 in Chamoli, 27 in Champawat, 16 in Pithoragarh, 34 in Rudraprayag and 59 in Uttarkashi. Currently there are 12 containment zones in the state which include nine in Dehradun district, one in Haridwar and two in Nainital.
Meanwhile, the vaccination drive also continued in the state with 42,129 beneficiaries being vaccinated in 311 sessions held across the state on Sunday. A total of 1,28,938 beneficiaries have been fully vaccinated in the state so far.
