After wrecking havoc in the plain districts of Uttarakhand the contagion of the Covid-19 is spreading in the mountainous districts of the state. The data maintained by the Social Development for Communities (SDC)  foundation suggests that in the last seven days ( April 30 to May 6)  12,521 cases of the disease were reported from nine mountainous districts of the state.

In Pauri 2258 cases were reported while 1915 and 1553 cases were reported from Tehri and Chamoli respectively during this period. Uttarkashi reported 1340, Champawat 1305, Almora 1297, Pithoragarh 1113, Bageshwar 875 and Rudraprayag 864 cases during this period. The increase in contagion in mountainous areas is dangerous as the health services are almost nonexistent in many such areas.  The founder of SDC foundation, Anoop Nautiyal said that the situation demands immediate and greater attention of state government in the hilly areas.
