With the Char Dham Yatra postponed amid the ongoing surge in Covid-19 cases across the nation, the state government is planning to provide a virtual darshan of the Char Dham shrines to the devotees. Respecting the sentiments of the devotees unable to undertake the pilgrimage to the shrines, the state government is planning to enable them to have virtual darshan of the shrines while sitting at home.
The State’s Tourism and Culture minister Satpal Maharaaz discussed this with chief minister Tirath Singh Rawat on Thursday. The chief minister agreed to facilitate the same. Maharaaz also spoke to the chief executive officer of the Char Dham Devasthanam Board, Ravinath Raman and directed him to arrange online darshan by issuing a letter. Adding more in this he said, “Safety of the pilgrims is in our top priority due to which the state government has postponed the Char Dham Yatra this year. However, respecting the spirit of the devotees, instructions have been given to make arrangements for virtual darshan of Char Dham. This will allow pilgrims to see rituals from the area that is not restricted in the premises and perform arti from their homes.” The minister also requested everyone to get vaccinated and strictly observe the Covid protocol to help in breaking the chain of virus transmission in the state.
