To prevent people from dumping garbage in drains, Rispana and Bindal rivers, the Dehradun district magistrate Ashish Kumar Srivastava directed the Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) to install CCTV cameras at such locations. According to the DM, garbage thrown in drains and rivers causes waterlogging issues in the city due to which water enters the homes of nearby residents.
Srivastava has asked the MCD to install the CCTV cameras and take legal action after identifying the culprits. Besides this, the DM also informed that Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) is also working on installing nets over such drains and parts of Rispana and Bindal rivers where people mostly tend to throw garbage. On this, officials from MDDA informed that about Rs 90 lakh will be spent on this plan.
