Provide 40 % seats to women in Assembly polls- Upadhyaya

Former Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Kishore Upadhyaya has demanded that all the political parties should field at least 40 per cent women candidates in the upcoming Assembly elections in Uttarakhand. In a letter to the in charge of Uttarakhand Congress Devendra Yadav, former chief minister Harish Rawat, PCC president Ganesh Godiyal and leaders of opposition parties, Upadhyaya has requested that they should work for providing rights to the natives of Uttarakhand.
In the letter written to Yadav, the Congress leader said that the general secretary of All India Congress Committee (AICC) Priyanka Gandhi has promised to provide rights on the water and forest wealth to the locals in Uttar Pradesh and said that three cylinders of cooking gas would be provided. She has also promised that the Congress would provide 40 per cent of party tickets to women in the UP assembly elections. Upadhyaya said that Congress should also provide 40 per cent of seats to the women in Uttarakhand assembly elections.
