BJP accuses Congress of playing politics on subject of student union polls
The Bharatiya Janata Party state president Madan Kaushik said that the situation resulting from the Covid-19 pandemic is responsible for the delay in the students union elections. The government is in no way responsible for this situation. Kaushik said that the necessary facilities could not be arranged due to delay in opening of universities and colleges considering the Covid guidelines.
The government does not conduct the student unions elections which are held as per the recommendations of the Lyngdoh committee. The BJP State president averred, “The Congress is playing politics on the subject of students union elections even though there is no issue for politics. The Congress is unable to hold these elections in Rajasthan, Punjab and Chhattisgarh where it is in power. It should also take cognisance of the situation in such states.
This is the situation regarding elections in all colleges in the nation but the Congress is confused and unable to think clearly. The Congress is simply searching for issues on which to protest,” said Kaushik.
