As part of the police campaign against drug peddling under the supervision of the deputy superintendent of police, Karnaprayag, Trivendra Rana, a joint team of Kotwali Jyotirmath and SOG seized 7.24 gm of smack while searching an individual and arrested him on Thursday.
Sharing information about the arrest, the inspector-in-charge, Jyotirmath, Devendra Rawat said that the arrested accused was identified as Rupesh Panwar, 28, a resident of village Pakhi, Jyotirmath. A case has been registered against him at Kotwali Jyotirmath under Section 8/21 of NDPS Act. The accused would be presented before the court, he added.
The SP, Chamoli appealed to the people to immediately inform the police if they receive information about illegal drug sales anywhere. “We will launch prompt action,” he assured.
