The Doon Book Festival, organised by the National Book Trust, India, under the Ministry of Education, will be held at Parade Ground in Dehradun from April 4 to 12. Sharing this information at a media conference here on Thursday, the NBT India director Yuvraj Malik said that the festival promises to be a unique celebration of books, ideas and culture, bringing together readers, writers, artists and thinkers from across the country.
The chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami is set to inaugurate it at Parade Ground on April 4. Among the prominent guests to be present is Acharya Balkrishna. Over the nine-day event, millions of books in various languages, including Garhwali and Kumaoni, will be showcased, making it a paradise for book lovers, Malik said, adding that entry to the festival is free. “The aim is to promote reading habits and make literature accessible to a wider audience,” he said.
He further informed that the Doon Book Festival 2026 will further feature daily engaging activities for children, including storytelling sessions, creative workshops, quizzes and interactive learning experiences. “The festival will also host numerous cultural performances and musical concerts, creating a vibrant and festive atmosphere,” he said.
Malik highlighted that the key feature of the festival is the participation of renowned authors, filmmakers, thinkers and prominent personalities. “They will engage with readers through panel discussions and interactive sessions,” he informed.
