While reviewing law and order with particular emphasis on crimes ahead of the onset of the tourist season, the senior superintendent of police, Nainital, Manjunath TC urged the police officers and personnel to behave politely with the tourists as well as the common people.
The meeting began with a conference of personnel from all police stations, followed by a joint meeting of all station in-charges, officers/employees of Fire Service, Traffic, PAC and Home Guard. He warned of strict action against the personnel to be found misbehaving with people under inebriated condition.
“We will stand firmly behind the personnel in the event of any problem or dispute arising during duty, but we will not tolerate indiscipline and misconduct on the part of the police personnel under any circumstances,” he asserted.
He further exhorted the officers and personnel to present a positive image of the police department through their conduct and provide a safe and comfortable environment for tourists.
To ensure timely and transparent investigations, clear instructions were given to all investigating officers to complete them within the stipulated timeframe. Strong displeasure was expressed over unnecessary delays, particularly in cases punishable by less than seven years (such as those under Excise Act, Electricity Act and road accident cases).
To boost the morale of the police personnel during the meeting, the SSP felicitated 33 who did commendable work with ‘commendation certificates’.
During the seminar, the SP Nainital, Jagdish Chandra; SP Haldwani Manoj Kumar Katyal; CO Haldwani Amit Kumar; CO Ramnagar Sumit Pandey; CO Nainital Anjana Negi and the chief fire officer Gaurav Kirar were present.
