Anganwadi workers hold protest against Govt

Wednesday, 21 September 2022 | PNS | DEHRADUN

The Anganwadi Sanyukt Sangharsh Morcha held a massive protest rally against the state government on Tuesday in Dehradun. The president of the Anganwadi Workers Association Rekha Negi said hundreds of Anganwadi workers participated in the rally. She said that the rally marched towards the Chief Minister residence when police barricaded the route in Hathibadkala. She said that representatives of the department of Women Empowerment and Child Development (WECD) met them and asked to hold a meeting with them to discuss the issues of the workers.

“We had planned to intensify our protest but we have deferred our plan till we discuss our issues with the department on Thursday. We do not have just one or two issues but several of them include promotion issue, regular payments of monthly allowance and rent money by the department among others that have not been tackled by the government despite giving several promises and assurances on the matters. We have decided to give this one more chance to the department to tackle our issues. If they fail to execute their assurances and orders soon, thousands of Anganwadi workers will be forced to hold a massive state-wide strike,” said Negi.
