Pauri police raided a resort in Lakshmanjhula late on Monday night and took action against 37 individuals for participating in a rave party held in violation of official closure orders.

The raid was conducted following complaints from local residents about loud music and disturbances in the area, as per the officials. They informed that the group was allegedly found dancing to high volume music at the resort, which had been ordered to remain closed during the monsoon season under Pauri district administration guidelines effective from July 1, 2025.

Authorities have registered a case against the resort owner under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), while the 37 attendees face charges under Section 172 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) for breaching closure directives, as per the officials. They informed that during preliminary questioning, the party’s organiser Manoj Kumar identified himself as an area manager for an agriculture company. He claimed that the event was a business initiative aimed at motivating distributors and shopkeepers to increase fertiliser purchases.

According to Kumar, the gathering was part of a strategy to meet the company’s ambitious monsoon season sales target of Rs four crore. Among those present were 28 shopkeepers from Muzaffarnagar, invited as part of the promotional event. The officials said that further investigation is underway to determine whether additional violations occurred and to assess the resort’s role in allowing the event despite the seasonal ban.
