The State Women Empowerment and Child Development (WECD) minister, Rekha Arya lauded the budget presented during the Uttarakhand Vidhan Sabha session at Bhararisain on Monday, saying that the government has prioritised welfare of women, children and vulnerable sections. The chief minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami presented the budget for the financial year 2026-27 on the maiden day of the session.
“The budget includes a provision of Rs 598 crore for the ‘Saksham Anganwadi and Nutrition 2.0’ programme. It also allocates funds for initiatives such as the chief minister’s Mahalaxmi Kit Scheme, Anchal Amrit Scheme and Vatsalya Scheme,” she said.
She emphasised that allocation of Rs 1,327 crore for social security pensions reflects the government’s sensitive approach to welfare. “Moreover, substantial budget provisions have been made for rural development, road construction, expansion of health services, technological advancement and the promotion of youth self-employment,” Arya said.
