Expressing concern over the complaints of allocation of seats of reserved categories in the admission process of NEET-UG 2026 in Uttarakhand, the Leader of Opposition in Vidhan Sabha, Yashpal Arya has demanded a high-level and impartial investigation in the issue.
He said that if benefits under the SC, ST, OBC, EWS and other reserved categories have been granted to candidates who do not meet the prescribed eligibility criteria then it is a grave injustice to the truly deserving candidates of Uttarakhand. In such cases, action should not be taken only against junior employees, but the role of the concerned officials should also be investigated. He said that the responsibility should be fixed in the case.
Giving some examples of the irregularities in the MBBS admission under the reserved categories, Arya said that investigations into all such cases should be done.
The LoP semanded that physical and digital verification of certificates of all the candidates who got seats in Round-1 and Round-2 on the basis of reserved category or domicile should be done.
He said that the doubtful caste and permanent residence certificates should be verified through the district magistrate/competent authority. Arya added that an independent high-level inquiry should be conducted into complaints of irregularities in the allocation of reserved seats.
