Authorities collect nearly Rs 50 lakh as challan under anti-encroachment drive in Doon

Authorities in Dehradun have issued around 4,000 challans and collected nearly Rs 50 lakh penalty under the anti-encroachment drive in the past one month. Teams of the regional transport office (RTO) of Dehradun, Municipal Corporation of Dehradun (MCD) and police on Monday removed encroachments from several areas of Dehradun and issued a total of 123 challans. 

The teams conducted inspections of encroachment in the stretch of Araghar to Rispana, Ghantaghar to Saharanpur Road, Ghantaghar to Chakrata Chowk and Lansdowne Chowk, as per the officials. They said that the authorities demolished and removed several encroachments in these areas and issued 123 challans for violations and recovered nearly Rs two lakh as a penalty. The MCD team issued 42 challans and recovered a penalty of Rs 42,300.

The RTO and police teams imposed 55 and 26 challans respectively and collected a penalty of Rs 1,38,400 and 13,000 respectively, said the officials. They stated that MCD, RTO and police teams have issued around 4,000 challans and collected nearly Rs 50 lakh penalty under the drive in the past one month. The officials said that the teams will continue to act against illegal encroachments in the city in future too.
