Authorities seal 17 illegal Madarsas in Haldwani

The authorities continued action on illegally operated Madarsas here on Monday. The district administration and police carried out the action on both Sunday and Monday in Haldwani with more than a dozen Madarsas being sealed for operating without registration. A total of 17 Madarsas were sealed on the two days, with four of these being sealed on Monday. One Madarsa has also been acquired by the authorities.
According to sources, a total of 21 Madarsas have been sealed so far in the Nainital district for being operated without registration.
The additional district magistrate Vivek Kumar Rai acting on directions of the State government, teams from the district administration, police and other departments had conducted a survey of Madarsas in this region of the district. The teams found 18 Madarsas which were operating illegally without registration and recognition in the Haldwani area. These Madarsas have been sealed in the Haldwani area. The ADM further informed that three Madarsas found operating illegally in the Kaladhungi area had been sealed earlier.
It will be recalled that the chief minister Pushkar Singh Dhami had directed officials to ensure that Madarsa are operated after following due procedure as required by the law, and that action should be taken against those found violating the rules.
