An autorickshaw driver saved the life of a teenage girl from Punjab who was allegedly planning to commit suicide in Rishikesh. The police informed that an autorickshaw driver named Lala arrived at the police station on January 19 with a minor girl and said that she booked his vehicle from the Rishikesh bus stop and asked him to take her to the Ganga river. After talking to her for a while, the police said that the driver realised the girl is mentally disturbed and can hurt herself. Considering the situation, he brought the girl to the police station rather than taking her to the river. On enquiry she revealed that she ran away from her home at Patiala in Punjab after her parents scolded her. The police said that the conversation with the girl indicated that she was going to attempt suicide in the river but the driver’s quick thinking saved her. According to the police, Punjab police was notified about the girl after which she was taken by her parents from Rishikesh on Thursday.
