Avalanche alert sounded for mountains, rain and snowfall likely in State

The weather took a turn again on Tuesday with light rain being witnessed in various parts of the State. The State administration has also issued an alert regarding the possibility of avalanches in the high altitude areas of the State.
The State Meteorological Centre has issued a yellow warning regarding the possibility of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty wind (40-50 kmph) likely to occur at isolated places in Nainital, Champawat and Udham Singh Nagar districts on Wednesday.
Thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty wind (30-40 kmph) are likely to occur at isolated places in the remaining districts of Kumaon region today. Apart from this, light to moderate rain snowfall (at places situated at altitudes of 2,500 metres and above) is likely to occur at a few places in districts of Kumaon region. Very light to light rain snowfall (at 2,500 metres and above) is likely to occur at isolated places in districts of Garhwal region.
The provisional State capital Dehradun is forecast to witness a partly cloudy sky. Thunder cloud development and very light rain is likely to occur in some areas while the maximum and minimum temperatures are likely to be about 20 degrees Celsius and seven degrees Celsius respectively in Dehradun today.
Considering the possibility of snowfall and avalanche, the Uttarakhand State Disaster Management Authority (USDMA) has sounded an alert in all the districts.
