Various temples across the State were closed for many hours due to the lunar eclipse on Saturday. In Chamoli district, the portals of the Badrinath temple and all the other temples under the Badrinath Kedarnath Temple Committee across the State were closed to the public at 4 PM. The timing of the eclipse was at about 1 AM so the temples were closed nine hours before the said time. After ritual purification, the Badrinath temple and other shrines will be reopened early in the morning. In Badrinath, all the ritual prayers in the morning will be held as usual. On Saturday, the Rajbhog was offered in Badrinath at 11 AM and the shrine was closed for cleaning and other tasks till 2 PM. The temple was opened again at 2 PM and the evening Arti was conducted at 3:30 PM after which the temple was closed at 4 PM.
