SGRRU reaches out to help Dharali disaster victims

On the occasion of Independence Day, the vice- chancellor, Kumud Saklani and registrar, Lokesh Gambhir of Shri Guru Ram Rai University (SGRRU) flagged off two trucks and four other vehicles carrying essential relief materials, including food items, for the disaster-affected families of Dharali in Uttarkashi district.  Speaking of the humanitarian initiative, the president of SGRRU, Mahant Devendra Das said that standing by the disaster-affected was just a duty but a moral responsibility for them.     

Further, SGRRU and Shri Mahant Indiresh Hospital have committed to providing free medical care to the affected families and free education to their children in select university courses.

The relief packages being sent through SGRR Public School in Barkot, Uttarkashi included medicines, food grains, blankets and clothing.  The principals of SGRR Public School, Barkot, Kamla Rawat and SGRR Public School Purola, Uttam Singh Chauhan have been coordinating with the ADM, Uttarkashi and local administrative authorities to ensure their effective distribution in the affected villages, SGRRU sources said. Besides, directives have been issued to SGRR group of institutions based in Uttarkashi district to contribute actively to relief and rehabilitation efforts.
