Promotion figured prominently during the executive council meeting involving Kumaun University chaired by the vice-chancellor, Prof D S Rawat. The confidential envelopes submitted by the selection committee were opened and a decision was made based on the interviews of 36 professors for the positions of assistant to associate professor and associate professor. While 31 names were approved, the remaining five were sent to Raj Bhavan for the final decision. The meeting also approved the extension of temporary affiliation for various diploma and certificate courses offered by colleges and institutions affiliated with the university. The extension of the services of guest and contractual faculty was also approved.
The VC said that teachers’ promotions and resolution of employees’ problems were their top priority.
