To expand the reach of yoga and India’s ancient tradition in Southeast Asia, Patanjali Yogpeeth has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Indonesia’s only State Hindu university, Universitas Hindu Negeri (UHN), in Bali on Friday. After inking the MoU, Acharya Balkrishna said that this partnership would not only build academic and research bridges between the two countries but prove to be a milestone in reviving the glory of Sanatan and Yoga on the land of Bali.

Sharing details of the agreement, he said that the students from both the University of Patanjali and UHN would hold joint sessions as well as do research and organise yoga competitions together. “Patanjali will soon begin work on a large scale to introduce yoga and Sanatan culture in Indonesia,” he said, adding that the Speaker of Indonesian Assembly, Dewa Made Mahayadnya had warmly appreciated Patanjali’s initiatives in multiple fields, including yoga, health, agriculture, research and education, and expressed his desire to visit India and Patanjali soon when they met. Importantly, Bali’s only MLA of the Indian origin, Somvir Arya was also present during MoU inking ceremony.

The managing committee of UHN, led by Prof Gusti Ngurah Sudiana and Prof Made Purnama (UHN), welcomed Acharya Balkrishna and said he was a State guest in Indonesia. It was also agreed during the meeting that  Dhanvantari Dham Mala village in Pauri district would be developed on eco-friendly model.

A cultural programme was held on the occasion where the artists from both Indonesia and Patanjali took part, highlighting the shared cultural heritage of both the countries.
