According to police, both accused hail from Bharatpur district of Rajasthan and during interrogation, they revealed that they had arrived in Haldwani with a consignment of smack from Rajasthan. “They planned to deliver it to someone near Kathgodam railway station, after which they were to go to their relatives’ home in Mukteshwar,” said a police officer.

Police investigations also revealed that several cases have been registered against the main accused, Gajab Singh in Rajasthan under the Excise Act and the NDPS Act.  “Besides, we are gathering information about the criminal history of the second accused, Sitaram,” said a police officer familiar with the details.

Police have registered a case against the duo under the NDPS Act and have begun further investigation. They are also investigating where the seized smack was obtained from and to whom it was intended to be supplied.
